The Simple Guide to A Clutter-Free Home

Home is a place where all kinds of objects are presented. The clutter is the first sign of an excessive belongings which occurs when things get a bit too much. The fewer things we have, the easier it is to avoid clutter.

Clearing up the clutter on your shelves will leave you with nothing but a calm and peaceful home, which will be easier to manage. Your friends will not only think your house is nicer, but also they will feel better about it simply because it is uncluttered.

Here is a guide to staying clutter-free:

  1. Keep Only the Things You Need

Many times, we find ourselves holding on to unnecessary items, such as drawers full of “forget-me-nots,” such as rubber bands and old keys. Closets are being stuffed with things you are not wearing anymore, as well as forgotten or expired things.

Make your mind and ask yourself, “Would I actually use this?”. Start with smaller unused or old items and then move to larger clutter in the garages or basement. Sentimental things are the hardest to decide, so you don’t need to rush.

  1. Develop Daily Habits to Keep Your House Clutter-Free

Clutter didn’t create itself. It starts when you buy a lot, put things away but forget about it, or pile up things to sort them out for later. Picture such habits and make one change at a time.

  • Always start your day making your bed.
  • Get stuff back in the place where it belongs.
  • Complete daily tasks such as dusting, cleaning, and meal prepping.
  • Clear the kitchen and do the dishes as soon as you are done with the meal.
  • Create storage spaces for essentials
  • Don’t let the clothes stare at you after laundry; hang them instantly.
  1. Give Home to Everything

Organize your belongings and give everything a space including keys, school bags, magazine, utensils and other new supplies. Keep the frequently used items within your reach and store the bulky items in a larger ware. Clear the side tables and put the paper towels on the kitchen counter.

  1. Clear The Flat Surface.

A room is clutter-free when all flat surfaces are empty. They include surfaces on the floor, tables or countertops. Opt to clear them at least once a day, maybe after dinner or before eating the next meal, in order to have a chance to stop piles from growing. Removing things from a tabletop, not leaving clothes on the floor, straightening the common areas, etc., can be effective.

  1. Desire Less and Shop Minimal

Having fewer things equals less time to manage and clean and more free space and and energy. Even a slight decrease in your wants will help you not to incorporate too many more things even though they look good. Be mindful when shopping and pay attention to items that are essential compared to what people like to buy.

  1. Set a “Maybe” And “Donation” Box

Sometimes when you’re making through a stockpile of items, you’re clearly sure of what to keep and what to trash or donate. However, you think you cannot do without it or need it in future. Put those unsure things in a box aside and wait for 6 months to see if it is anything you really missed. In addition, create a donated goods list for charity and put this box by your front door to be reminded of.

  1. Organize the Paperwork

Our home might be filled up with incoming mail, manuals, pamphlets, receipts, warranties, notes, and unfinished art projects. Pick up a specific area in your home, like a tray on the desk, a storage box or any other dedicated area that you will use for papers. Make it the only place where you are going to pile up your papers,

  1. Never Leave Your Stuff Random.

When you are finished doing something, make sure it’s neatly stacked back in order not to mess things up. Otherwise, you will not find them when you need them. If there is an item that has no place to live when not in use, then it shows that you bulk up your house with unnecessary items. This should question your motives in wasting money on stuff that is of no benefit to you.

Conclusion

Inspect your house and note areas where you tend to build up. Try to have an organizing plan ahead of time regarding the places that give you clutter. Find storage places, remove the access and clear the countertops to make your house look presentable. It will surely make your life easier.

Make an extra effort to make your house clutter free!
