Spring is here with its fresh winds and sunshine; it’s the perfect moment to reorganize and purify our homes, especially our kitchen. However, you don’t want to go overboard here; just a little cleaning is enough.
Get down to the nitty-gritty of kitchen cleaning with these 5 simple steps.
Step 1: De-Clutter Your Countertop and Wash the Dishes
First, begin by tidying up the place, as it is a basic requirement, and then, of course, get a deep clean. Put away everything that doesn’t belong in the kitchen in a box or bag.
Then, put everything that needs to go in the kitchen in its place — including moving all the dirty dishes into, or next to, the sink. Clear any pans you’ve allowed to burn.
Step 2: Start Dusting From the Ceiling Down To the Floor
You don’t want dust from the overhead to float down to the surfaces you have already finished dusting. So, dust from top to bottom. Start with top fixtures such as your lights, ceiling fan, refrigerator top, cupboard tops, and cabinet tops. Then, Dust the windows, sills, tables, shelves, etc.
Finally, dust the baseboards, and then sweep or dust mop the floor to clear the greatest part of the settled dust and dirt.
Step 3: Wash Down Your Sink.
Scrubbing the sink is simple and not as complicated as it may look. Apply a paste made from baking soda and water to the sink basin with a sponge or microfiber cloth. Use a toothbrush to scrape down the inside parts of the drain as much as you can. When removing the stuck-on dirt, apply some distilled white vinegar and add a pinch of baking soda. That will fizz up, making it easier to pick up the dirt.
Step 4. Wash Dirt From Small Appliances.
Now, pick some smaller items that need to be taken care of. Remove crumbs from toasters and run one cleaning cycle through your coffee maker with vinegar. Steam the inside of your microwave with vinegar, and then use a paper towel to wipe it dry. Take your fryer apart and put the parts into the water. Disassemble your instant pot, clean and dry the pieces, and re-arrange them.
Step 5: End With Kitchen Floors
Clean the kitchen floor using a broom and a mop to remove crumbs, dust, and other small items you may have left. For floor grit in those places which are hidden in cracks and corners, you may have to go down to the floor, get down on your knees and even crawl under the cabinets. Make sure to use a steam mop to clean the grout thoroughly.
