Vacation Home Cleaning Checklist

Give a thought on how to make a vacation house neat and pleasant with this checklist.

Bedroom

Climbing on a bed with crisp, clean sheets at the end of a weary day is incomparable. 

  • Pull up the area rugs and sweep or mop underneath them closer to the walls to eliminate the clutter. 
  • Use a rubber glove to dust the nightstands, TV console, dressers, and wardrobes.
  • Inspect every drawer and closet for clothes or other items that may have been forgotten.
  • Vacuum the floors.
  • Disassemble beds; soak pillows with protectors and mattress pad in warm water.
  • Clean all ceiling fans, light fixtures, pictures, mirrors, and accessories. 
  • Make sure the light switches are functioning by turning them on and off.

Kitchen

  • Mop the floor.
  • Remove all the utensils and food containers from the cabinet and clean each shelf.
  • Clean the cupboards, both the interior and the outside.
  • Ensure drawer bins are neat and dust particle-free.
  • Clean and store away all your utensils and dishes. 
  • Scrub and wipe the stovetop.
  • Scrub the entire oven exterior and interior, including the exhaust, vent, and door racks.
  • Remove stains from the countertop.
  • Deep clean freezer.
  • Clean and deodorize trash cans.
  • Clean light fixtures, fans, and chandeliers. 

Bathroom

  • Wipe clean the baseboards, doors, ledges, switches and vents.
  • Wash the grout and tub area.
  • Clean mirrors and glass shower doors.
  • Disinfect the toilet seat, tank, and base.
  • Clean toothbrush holder and toilet paper holder.
  • Mop the floor, corners, and tiles.
  • Empty out the trash can.
  • Air-freshen to get rid of offensive smell.

Living room

  • Remove cushion cases and wash them.
  • Dust all surfaces.
  • Wipe down any visible dirt and stains on the sofa.
  • Move the furniture and rugs and vacuum underneath.
  • Clean mirrors, walls, ceilings, and blinds
  • Look for out-of-sight areas for accumulated dust.
  • Clean drapes.
  • Clean TV screens, cabinets, coffee tables, and other small pieces of furniture.
  • Vacuum the floor.
